Graduation Management Admission Test (GMAT)

Graduate Management Admission Test commonly known as GMAT is a fairly international computer based test based on mathematics and English language for measuring candidate's aptitude to study and successfully pass a graduate business studies course, such as an MBA. GMAT is most proffered aptitude test among the colleges based in US,UK and Canada. It is delivered via computer at various locations around the world. Business schools frequently use GMAT as one of many selection criteria for admission into an MBA program.

How To Apply

The examinee may register for the GMAT either online or by calling one of the test centers. Candidate has to pay the examination fee to appear into the GMAT test.

GMAT Test Fee

As of October 2011, the fee to take the GMAT test is US $250. This fee may increase or decrease in future. You can visit the official website of GMAT for any further details.

GMAT Test Pattern

The GMAT test consist of three sections i.e Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative Aptitude and verbal reasoning. In general, GMAT is a four hours test. The maximum score that can be achieved on the exam is 800.

The first section of the test i.e Analytical Writing Assessment candidate has to write two essays. In the first essay candidate has to analyze an argument and in the second the student must analyze an issue.Each of the two essays in the Analytical Writing part of the test is graded on a scale of 0 (the minimum) to 6 (the maximum).

The second section i.e Quantitative aptitude consists of 37 multiple choice questions that further based on Problem Solving and data Sufficiency.

The third and the last section i.e Verbal section consist of 41 multiple choice questions which are further based on Sentence Correction, Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension.

Required Scores

Business schools generally don't disclose the minimum score required for admission in MBA program, they generally publish the average GMAT score they accept for admission. The average score that has been accepted by most of top business schools is between 600-700.

Considering the quantitative section of the GMAT to be the most difficult section of the GMAT test, Most international MBA providers only evaluate the quantitative section of the GMAT when considering candidate applications. So if you want to take an admission in one of the top business school of the World you have to be very good in the quantitative section of GMAT test.
